.:RDC:. Chapter 1: A History

"Long ago, there were 5 creatures that walked the earth: The Red Dragon, The Phoenix, The Tanuki, The White Tiger and The Blue Dragon.
The Red Dragon was brave, the Phoenix strong, the Tanuki spiritual, the White Tiger stealthy and the Blue Dragon cunning. The amount of stories about these 5 are infinite, but the story I will be telling takes place thousands of years ago, in one of the first villages.

The 5 had approached humans. At first, they feared the beasts but when told that they were not here to harm them, the men decided to watch the creatures as they showed off their magnificent powers. The small village began to worship the creatures, and in exchange for offerings, the 5 would keep them safe.

The 5 enjoyed this deal greatly, and became more fond of the small village everyday. All except the Blue Dragon. He had warned the other 4 that co-existing would bring nothing but war and chaos, but they had not listened to him. Instead they made fun of the Blue Dragon for being so untrusting. Being the proud dragon he was, the harmless jokes stabbed him right in the heart, and he decided to show the 5 how dangerous humankind was.

That night, when the 5 were sleeping, the Blue Dragon dyed his scales with the red berries he had gathered. After each scale was a bright, dazzling red, he quietly slithered down towards the earth.

That night, disguised as the Red Dragon, the Blue Dragon reeked havoc on the village. He sent homes ablaze and demolished buildings. When the villagers began to fight back, the Blue Dragon was satisfied and retreated back to the sky, where he washed off the dye just as the others began to wake.

That morning there was an uprising, and the humans began to build weapons to attack. The Blue Dragon showed the others how dangerous these people were, and how they betrayed them and now they shall try to bring them down. The 5 decided that they had no choice but to fight back. And so, the Great War began.

The war lasted 7 years, and then the Red Dragon had enough. He approached the humans, and managed to make peace with the humans. The other 5 were so impressed with the Red Dragons bravery and peace making skills, they crowned him king of the skies.

The Blue Dragon swelled with envy. Even after proving him wrong and making a fool of the Red Dragon, he was crowned king while the Blue Dragon was ridiculed once again. The Blue Dragon was so full of envy that his scales turned green, and from then forth he became the Jade Dragon.

But the Jade Dragon came to realize there were humans below that didn't believe that the Red Dragon was fit to be king after what had happened. One night, he approached these humans, and offered to train them in ninjutsu. For months, he and the humans trained in secret, and the Jade Dragon began to grow more and more powerful with each coming day. More and more humans began to show up for training and he soon had a whole army at his feet. He decided that now was the time to overthrow the Red Dragon.

The Jade Dragon sent his army to attack, and the other 3 tried to hold them back while the Jade Dragon challenged the Red Dragon. The Red Dragon and the Jade Dragon fought for hours on end, until finally the other 3 joined forces with the Red Dragon to finally destroy the Jade Dragon. The Jade Dragon's army was punished, and most of them went back to worshipping the 4, but still, some believers remained and they began the Jade Dragon Clan to restore the Jade Dragon and take rule over the world.

When the Red Dragon found out, he made his own clan to help keep the Jade Dragon Clan at bay, and keep the balance. The others soon made their own clans, too, and that is how we, the Red Dragon Clan, became to be. The other 3 clans are our allies, and together, we fight the Jade Dragon Clan to keep the balance in the world, and make sure the Jade Dragon never rises again.

Now, time for bed." Katsumi finished.

"Aww, do we have to?" one of the younglings, Aika, cried.
"Yes, now go back to your dormitories before your sensei notices you're gone." Katsumi shooed the group of younglings away with a flick of her hand.
The children, although disappointed that they had to leave, but knew better then to disobey the Right Hand.
Once the children were gone, Keiko entered the room. "You're good at telling that story, you know."
"So I've heard."
"You should tell them stories more often."
"Kids are tiresome." Katsumi sighed. "Too much energy, it's exhausting."
Keiko rolled her eyes. "You're such a stick-in-the-mud. Lighten up a bit, have fun!"
"There is a very slim chance that's going to happen."
"Whatever. I'm going to the sleepover."
"What sleepover?"
"The one in Komakai's dorm. I said it was okay."
"You are such an irresponsible Left Hand, you know that, right?"
"I'm not irresponsible, I just know how to have fun. You're welcome to join us."
"We'll see."
"Sure, sure." Keiko waved her hand dismissively and exited the room.
Katsumi closed her eyes and massaged her temples. She got up and looked at her desk full of paperwork. It had to be done at some point...
"Maybe... Maybe tomorrow." Katsumi gave herself a small smile, and rushed into her bedroom to get her things.
